Cefpodoxime is an oral third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as otitis media, pharyngitis, sinusitis, and certain skin and urinary tract infections. It works by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, causing the bacteria to eventually die. It is important to note that cefpodoxime is not effective against infections caused by viruses.
